AI in Email Marketing – 7 Tools Nobody Told You

AI in Email Marketing – 7 Tools Nobody Told You

Email marketing plays a significant role when we talk about online marketing. Having said that, one would not want to miss out on learning how AI can boost email campaigns.

AI tools can be handy in:

  • Personalizing copies specific to individuals
  • Creating subject lines for emails.
  • Segregation or grouping of subscribers.
  • Optimizing send times.
  • Cleaning lists of emails.
  • Automating the creation of newsletters.

Let us glance through the tools required for the aforementioned applications:

1. Personalizing copies specific to individuals

Personalized connect with the customers allows us to penetrate to the micro-level by making our customers feel that the e-mail is specifically written for them. Atomic.AI adapts to the format preferred by your audience.

Optimization of the subject lines, & the e-mails are just a click away. This ensures the correct choice of words to fit in the right sentence structure to help you grab your customer’s attention, further swirling them to engage with every line of the e-mail.

To amplify the engagement of your audience, Atomic AI helps you to tailor your content by matching the emotional tone and preferred choice of reading of the specific segment of your audience.

2. Creating subject lines for e-mails.

AI-powered copywriting is an offering from Phrasee, which has developed a system for natural language generation that enables writing marketing copy sounding human while fitting in the brand’s vision & mission.

Some samples of subject lines created for Dominos Pizza, using Phrasee, are as shown below:

Out of all the subject lines mentioned above, one is written by a human, while the others are by a tool. We know that you are unable to spot the odd one out, and that illustrates the capability of AI in that its language can blend with the writings of actual humans so well.

One of the tools, a deep learning engine, developed by Phrasee can figure out the language which would work, and the ones which would not before sending out the mail. On the other hand, if humans were to predict the lines that would work the best, then probably we’ll have too many versions due to respective biases, whereas the machines don’t follow the biased trends.

Rankings of the subject lines, based on their performance in the real world, can be found on the left, while on the right are the predictions made by Phrasee’s deep learning model. And we know you are impressed, already. Phrasee can help you in several applications, such as in social media posts and advertisements, landing pages, SMS, or even in direct e-mails.

3. Segregation/grouping of subscribers

Machine learning can identify data patterns that you probably have not even thought of. It can group the subscribers which match patterns in some way, as compared to those in other groups. Creating personalized marketing strategies for the respective segment can improve the return on investment significantly. Consider an eCommerce store having data such as customer ID, age, gender, annual income, and spending score. A spending score is assigned to the customer based on purchasing data.

Now, using cluster analysis, the eCommerce store can understand its customers better, and hence, its marketing team can have a better sense of data that can be instrumental in planning out attuned marketing strategies for each segment of customers.

The IBM SPSS Modeler: https://www.ibm.com/in-en/analytics/spss-trials is a tool that can help in doing segregation, widely known as cluster analysis.

Using the K-means algorithm, which is one of the best algorithms used for cluster analysis, I created an unsupervised machine learning model.

As we can see, the algorithm has created 5 clusters, and the cluster quality is 0.7, which is considered good. On the right, we can see the cluster sizes, out of which cluster 5 is the biggest as it comprises 40% of the customers.

4. Optimizing send times

Now, let us take our attention towards a tool used for optimizing send times by leveraging AI; this tool is known as the seventh sense.

I am sharing a blog article explaining how AI and other factors are used for optimizing send times.

5. Cleaning lists of emails

There is another tool used for cleaning the email lists, called mail250.com. One worth checking out. magicemail.io is another AI-powered tool that summarizes emails right in your Gmail account. It is also capable of generating professional emails using one-line descriptions, getting you through all your emails 5 times faster, saving you time for other tasks. One of the other interesting tools that I came across is kriya.ai, which can find relevant professionals, and write smart email introductions in a very short amount of time.

6. Automating creation of newsletters

Before we close, let us touch upon another great tool: Rasa.io, which can help you not only in creating a newsletter but also in scheduling it. It can prove to be useful for websites that do not create much content every week. Rasa can help take matters from other sources that your subscribers would enjoy going through. By using AI, it understands the behavior of each subscriber to determine the best article for each customer instead of sending the same content to all the customers. This way, each subscriber gets a tailored version specific to their interest.
